Chef Kit's Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe
Chef Kit’s Buttermilk Biscuits
Hi! It’s me — Chef Kit!
I make biscuits all day long in my bakery, and now I want to show you how to make some too! Grab a grown-up helper, wash your paws (and hands!), and let’s get baking.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cold butter (that’s one stick!)
- ¾ cup cold buttermilk
Instructions
- Ask a grown-up to help turn the oven on to 425°F (218 °C).
- Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a big bowl.
- Add the butter and squish it in with your fingers until it looks crumbly. (This is my favorite part!)
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently — stop when it just comes together.
- Pat the dough on a floured table until it’s about as tall as a stack of coins.
- Cut out biscuits with a round cutter or a cup.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the tops are golden and proud.
- Let them cool (just a little!) and enjoy your biscuits.
Ovens are hot and pans can burn hands. Always bake with a grown-up helper!
